Coronavirus (COVID-19) is now officially a pandemic according to the World Health Organization. While governments work to identify and treat patients, companies are doing their part to help contain the spread of the virus. At ESO Electronic, we are taking measures to ensure that our employees stay safe and healthy, and that our factory remains open and running without interruptions for our customers.
- Home Office for all Office Staff
- Our software platform is already fully online, which has allowed for a seamless transition to home office. Business Managers can complete all functions from home exactly as they could at the office.
- Business Managers can be reached at their usual telephone number. Phones will be staffed from 8am – 5pm CET, and our central number is +49 6752 16998-0.
- In addition to phone calls, we can easily arrange video conferences with customers or suppliers.
- Shift Work in Strictly Divided Teams for Production Staff
- Production staff are divided into two teams: for the morning and afternoon shifts. Members of different teams are not allowed to have contact at work or privately. This will ensure that if one person on one team falls ill, the other team can cover for them and we will not have to quarantine the entire production staff. This will keep the factory up and running even if someone does get Coronavirus.
- During a two-hour block after each shift, the entire company is disinfected.
- Company Policies
- Customer and supplier visits are not allowed.
- Employees must follow hygiene recommendations, self-quarantine, and social distancing practices to remain healthy.
Worst-Case Scenario
- If the worst case happens – members of both production teams fall ill and have to be quarantined – we still have the option of moving orders from our headquarters in Germany to our factory in Romania.
- ESO Romania has the same production capacity as ESO Germany (SMT, THT, vapor-phase soldering, cable assembly).
- Romania has closed the borders to travellers to contain the spread of the virus, but goods delivery is still allowed through. We can send kitted orders with shipping companies or with our own delivery truck.
- This worst-case scenario might result in delays of 2-3 weeks, but it will allow us to ensure production capability.
We are in uncharted territory with Coronavirus. We are closely monitoring the situation and will revise our approach as necessary.
Please note that the Coronavirus is affecting supply chains around the world, and another allocation (shortage) of electronic components is expected. We are also seeing increases in lead times for components. Please review your requirements and order as soon as possible.
